Richlands Middle School

Nineteen Tazewell County students participated in the Virginia State History Day Competition on April 26 and April 27 in Richmond, Virginia. Ethan Patton (RMS) placed third in the Individual Exhibit (Junior) category. Ethan also won the Constitutional HIstory and Civics Prize. Ellie Lentner (GIS) placed first in the Individual Exhibit (Elementary) category. Kya Dales (RES) placed second in the Individual Performance (Elementary) category. Jackson Buchanan (RES) won the White House Historical Association Award.

School bus drivers are often the first smile students see in the morning and the last goodbye in the afternoon. They build relationships, create a sense of safety, and play a vital role in the daily rhythm of our schools.

This summer academy may interest students who want to pursue a trade-focused career post-high school. The academy is available for students aged 14-17.

Bus 1 will pick up students at the FM Market and Mill Creek.
Bus 65 will pick up students at Silver Spur, Food City Gas and Go, and Trinity Tabernacle Church.
Bus 14 will pick up Reedy Road.

Richlands Area: No Bus 64! Bus 1 will pick up students on Jacks Creek, Sutherland Branch Rd., and Red Root Ridge. Bus 30 will pick up students at Lake Park. Bus 65 will pick up students on Laramie Rd.

Bus 75 will not run this evening. Bus 32 will take students on Farmer St. and Christmas Tree Hill. Bus 74 will take students behind the Valero in Brickyard. Bus 5 will also not run this evening. Bus 1 will take students that get off at FM Market and Mill Creek. Bus 14 will take students that get off on Reedy Rd. and Rodeo Rd. Bus 64 will take students on 460 West Bound from the Exxon to the last Raven exit (Trinity Tabernacle). Bus 65 will take students to Silver Spur and Food City Gas and Go.

Richlands Area: No Bus 77! Bus 76 and bus 15 will be doubling up. Expect a slight delay. Tazewell Area: Bus 48 will be running a few minutes late. Graham Area: No Bus 42! Buses 41, 44 and 57 will be doubling up. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The vaccines offered at the clinics are mandatory for public school attendance in Virginia. Ella-Rae Patton, a sixth grade student at Richlands Middle School, was recognized by legislators at the Virginia State Capitol on March 2, 2026, for her First Place State History Day exhibit on Ida B. Wells.
